Project #1 Metaphorical Silhouette

This one gave me some trouble, my brain just does not like to simplify ideas so much. I hope the concepts are clear. It is supposed to be a for of a self-portrait. The star tree has two purposes. First it fills the background and second it is a symbol for my family tree, the Starr Family Tree, starting with my father's parents. New branches are added every year. Our family is very close, even with being so large and spread across the state. They are as much a part of me as anything in my life. Below is a list of the other icons in the portrait and their meanings and a sketch of another idea I had on how to draw the tree. Unfortunately if I had done it that way I would have still been working on it for another three days or so.
